Not sure where you have had Lychee that tasted like pickles but if you had some that tasted like pickles do not eat any more of them or you might get sick. Lychee is a very sweet tasting fruit

HOW TO EAT A LYCHEE
Hold on it between thumb and forefinger and bite it open, squeezing out the pulp into your mouth.Swish the sweet pulp around in your mouth with your tongue separating the nut from the pulp and spit the bitter nut out. Enjoy the taste of the pulp and then swallow.

Lychee tastes sweet and mixed with sour but another type called “Mata Kucing” aka Cat Eye with brown colour skin with black seed are definately veryt sweet but smaller size.

“Li chee” taste sweet and juicy, tastes good. But I like “Dragon eye” better than “Li Chee”. Dragon eye is in brown colour, but is half smaller than “Li Chee”. “Dragon eye” has a milder tastes. Both of these are available in Chinatown.
